We’re inspired by Mary Tuma’s exhibition titled ‘Homes for the Disembodied’ shown in East Jerusalem in 2000.Five dresses made from 50 metres of continuous black silk, hung facing the same way. Visually beautiful of course, but it holds a much deeper meaning too; paying tribute to Palestinian women and their strength perceived as mere shadows during the war. The idea of empty dresses evoke a sense of loss or belonging.
