‘Dust off shoes’
These shoes made from colourful dusters, they appear almost lifelike creatures in their own right, inspired by the living design forecast, also containing a DIY, customisation appeal from the Hacktivate trend.
Coming from a fashion design background I have a strong interest in creating new shapes and forms to encompass the human body. Merging my love for sculpture with my fashion design background I began to experiment and build up everyday objects to create a new platform and lease of life for these ordinary everyday products.
I am interested in the analysis and development of our modern world and the fast pace in which human consumption has and is growing, by manipulating everyday objects and giving them a new purpose it aims to send out the message of sustainability and expands peoples perceptions of common day resources.
I wanted to express the power of DIY and construction, it is what describes and communicates where we come from and who we want to be. The ultimate aim was to take a mundane object and release it from its common function discovering diverse potential, in hope the final outcome would conduct a sense of versatility within a mass produced world. It demonstrates the power and impact that one small insignificant object can hold.
