Besides timepieces, Baselworld is full of new offerings in fine jewellery and one brand which caught our attention this year is Spanish brand Carrera y Carrera. Our favourite from its latest collection, Tesoros del Imperio, is the Reina ring. Carved in yellow and white gold, the item is inspired by the elaborate and elegant lace worn by Reina Isabel de Francia, Queen of Spain, 1615.

Swatch celebrate its 30th anniversary at Baselworld with ‘Planet Swatch’, an exhibition featuring three decades worth of Swatch watches located on the mezzanine with innovative tributes to art, fashion, sports and colour. We were thrilled to meet the Swatch ProTeam on Swatch Sports day, along with their signature Swatch watches. This is Freestyle Moto X dirt bike racer Mat Rebeaud’s latest design, Wonder Zebra. Our #colouroftheweek is copper. We’re loving the rose-gold copper tones currently seen at retail, and it was one of the most popular metals seen at Milan Design Week too. Looking ahead, it’s one of the ‘down to earth’ metallics in our Industrial Evolution trend for A/W 14/15. Subscribers see more on copper here. The installation featured Danish food designers I’m A Kombo and served up snacks in fabric shells, and drinks inspired by wool!
